Possibly the whole event-logging system needs to be redone as more of a MediaWiki-like history, allowing even for the possibility of reverting (although permission to do this would have to be restricted to developers, since reverting just one record that was changed as part of a set could break data relationships -- unless there's some way to log change-sets as a group, like a logged transaction).

Note that there are LogEvent() and LogEvent_SamePlace() methods already, though deprecated. What event table do these target? Does anything still call either of them?
